More than 50 Fire Departments work on a declared fire in Pont d'Armentera

The Generalitat Firefighters are working to extinguish a fire declared this Monday at the Pont d’Armentera, in the Alt Camp region of Tarragona (Catalonia). The fire has started in some agricultural land, although it has been advancing towards a forest area. According to the first data collected by rural agents, it would have already burned more than ten hectares.

The fire brigade received the notice after noon and the troops are concentrating their efforts on the left flank of the fire, which is near the AP-2, in the direction of Mas del Plata.

Currently, up to 53 teams have been activated, of which 12 are aerial, to try to stop the advance of the fire, some 400 meters from the urban center of the Pla de Santa Maria municipality. At the moment, “there is no confinement order” because the fire is spreading in the opposite direction.

In fact, the fire started on agricultural land and then moved to a forest mass. The Firefighters received the notice at 12:21 p.m. and Civil Protection has activated the Infocat plan for the fire in a state of alert.
