The formation of the new Government of Pedro Sánchez will cause a remodeling of the federal executive of the PSOE. These are “specific changes” in the leadership of the party, according to sources from Ferraz, which will be ratified this Sunday by the federal committee of the PSOE, the highest body of the formation between congresses, within the framework of the political convention that The socialists celebrate this weekend in A Coruña.

Among the changes that will take place, representing the PSC, the new Minister of Industry and Commerce and former mayor of Barcelona, ??Jordi Hereu, will replace the former minister Miquel Iceta on the PSOE executive, who has already taken office in his new position as Permanent delegate ambassador of Spain to UNESCO, based in Paris.

In addition to Hereu, the party’s federal executive commission will propose the incorporation of three other ministers to the PSOE leadership. This is Óscar Puente, current Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility; Elma Sáiz, Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration; and Ana Redondo, Minister of Equality.

These four ministers will join the new PSOE executive, where five other members of the Executive already have seats. Specifically, the first vice president of the Government and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, who is also the deputy secretary general of the PSOE; and the ministers Félix Bolaños, Isabel Rodríguez, Pilar Alegría and Diana Morant.

At the political convention to be held this weekend in A Coruña, the PSOE will undertake an update of its programmatic lines for the next four years, as reported by the party. “Fighting populism and the insult of those who have no project for Spain, the generation of employment and the protection of the rights already acquired and the welfare state will be the pillars of action of the socialists, all within a European framework of reinforcement of social democracy”, they have pointed out from Ferraz. In this sense, the remodeling of the federal executive is located, to also face an intense new electoral cycle. The changes in the leadership of the PSOE also seek to unify organic responsibilities with the responsibilities carried out in the current Government.

In this way, it is expected that the new Ministers of Transport and Housing, Óscar Puente and Isabel Rodríguez, will now take over as secretary in the PSOE executive that Arcadi España occupied on these matters, now appointed Secretary of State for Territorial Policy. In turn, the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, will assume the equality secretariat in the PSOE that until now was headed by Andrea Fernández.

The PSOE political convention being held this weekend, with the motto Impulso de País, will bring together more than 1,500 cadres from all the socialist federations in the city of A Coruña. The event is configured around nine panels and three discussion forums, which will have a total of 40 speakers and moderators, who will maintain an aggregate of almost 20 hours of debates over two days, as reported by Ferraz. From these works will come a series of resolutions that aim to set the course of the organization for “a four-year term.”
