Michel, Girona’s coach, showed this afternoon his satisfaction with the difficult victory achieved in Montilivi against Betis: “We won a super complicated match and we are very happy. Take the ball away from Betis and do it the way we have done it, with few chances, but with control. There has been a show on the part of both teams, the two that wanted to win,” he stated.
“When we are ourselves we are a difficult and dangerous team to beat. At this level we are capable of playing good games and continuing at the top of the standings. The players deserve this victory after the setback against Getafe, where doubts could have arisen,” he explained.
The coach also had good words for Stuani and Dovbyk, the match’s scorers: “I don’t need to motivate Stuani. I’m giving him fewer minutes and he plays less than he deserves. Dovbyk is spectacular, but ‘Stu’ is essential: he is the soul of the club and he has an incredible mentality and competitiveness.”
Michel doesn’t care too much about the fight for the top scorer. “Individual objectives have to come after the collective ones, although it would be nice for Dovbyk. But it would be even nicer for everyone to enter the Champions League and that’s where we are. Dovbyk is committed to the team and the most important thing is for the team to win,” he declared.
