Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been on a short tour of Nigeria to promote the importance of mental health and the Invictus Games, an international sports competition founded by Prince Harry for injured war veterans.

The couple went to Lights Academy, a local school, where they gave a talk about mental health issues to children. The Duke of Sussex stressed the importance of acknowledging and openly expressing feelings. “There’s no shame in admitting that today is a bad day or that you’re feeling sad,” Harry told the students.

Prince Harry also encouraged children to take care of their classmates, asking them for a little more empathy and attention on a daily basis: “If you see a friend in class who doesn’t smile, what will you do? Will you check on him?”

Meghan, very much in agreement with her husband’s words, praised his intelligence and character: “Do you see why I married him? He is so smart. And so inspiring because he tells the truth.” Additionally, she assured the students that she believed strongly in their futures and the importance of being honest with each other. “There is no reason to suffer in silence,” the duchess said.

In a more relaxed and intimate moment of their visit, the couple interacted with the children of a kindergarten class, where they participated in a lively song and dance. Meghan loved the joy of the children, and she commented that her daughter Lili also loves the classes where she can jump and dance.
