Mazon: "The Law of Concord protects the rights of victims of Francoism and extends them to others"

The UN report “is an interference that violates the sovereignty of states.” This was said this morning by the Ombudsman of Vox in the Corts Valencianes, José María Llanos, in the face of harsh criticism from the international organization regarding, among others, the Concord Law that the PP and Vox have championed in the Valencian Community and that has initiated its processing in Parliament. For his part, the PP ombudsman, Miguel Barrachina, has indicated that his party feels “happy” with a law that, he has defended, “tries to equalize all victims.”

For his part, the Valencian president Carlos Mazón, pointed out that this report “does not refer to the Valencian Community, because since I have been president I have initiated 422 exhumations of murders caused by the violence of the Franco dictatorship.” “The Concordia Law not only consolidates and protects the rights of all victims of Francoism, but also incorporates new rights of other political violence (in reference to ETA) that also have rights”

For the Vox leader, the UN “must dedicate itself to saving lives, although since 1948 it has saved few, rather it has caused many.” He has stated that the Concord Law “comes from the support of the majority of the Valencian parliament, which is the majority of society” in reference to the PP and Vox. And he added that “we are tired of them interfering in the daily work of those of us who want a society of free citizens.”

Miguel Barrachina, for his part, has defended that the legislative proposal “does not eliminate anything, but rather expands rights; “It treats all victims equally, it recognizes the past but not to bury a present in which Sánchez makes a pact with the heirs of terrorism, with those who deny the existence of 25 ETA murders in the Valencian Community.”

This law, along with four others promoted by the PP and Vox in Les Corts Valencianes, on matters such as language in teaching or the change of criteria for the organization of the Valencian Radio Television, have begun to be debated today in the parliament in committee. with citizen participation and expert appearances.

The PSPV-PSOE, for its part, has accused Carlos Mazón of leading “an internationally irresponsible government and placing the Valencian Community on the map of shame in Europe.” This was said by the spokesperson for Democratic Memory of the PSPV-PSOE in Les Corts, Mercedes Caballero, before the start of the citizen participation process of the five laws of infamy in which “we will listen to civil society, the victims, historians and researchers.”

In this sense, the socialist deputy has pointed out that “we are witnessing a new chapter of the day of infamy that coincides with the day in which we are the international shame in human rights” and has stressed that “it is very sad that the “UN to defend human rights in the Valencian Community.”
