It was announced and today it has materialized. Carlos Mazón has created a second vice presidency that will manage the Social Welfare, Equality and Housing policies, which will be directed by Susana Camarero (PP). The Decree of the Generalitat stresses that this department will have the powers “in matters of social benefit policies, social services, dependency, people with functional diversity, equality, families, childhood and adolescence, adoption, youth, women, migrants, cooperation to the development social volunteering and housing”.

The PP, given Vox’s postulates on gender violence, did not want such a sensitive area to be in the hands of the extreme right. Something similar has happened in the Environment, which comes out of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is managed by Vox and whose head is José Luis Aguirre, and is included in a new portfolio called the Ministry of Environment, Water, Infrastructures and Territory of which it will be the owner the senator of the PP Salomé Pradas.

As relevant data, this same department that assumes the PP will manage the hunting and animal welfare powers that will not be in Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing. The Ministry that Jose Luis Aguirre (Vox) assumes is left only with “agriculture, livestock, fishing, food, common agricultural policy and irrigation.”

In recent days there had been speculation about the powers that the vice president and head of the Culture area, the former bullfighter Vicente Barrera, was going to assume. The PP did not want this portfolio to manage Heritage, but finally Barrera will have control of the entire area that includes “the powers in matters of culture, cultural promotion, cultural heritage and sport”, according to the decree published this Wednesday in the DOGV.

The current structure of Culture is divided between the Autonomous Secretariat of Culture and the Dirección General de Patrimonio. and the first depends on the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC: performing arts, audiovisual and popular music), the Palau de les Arts and the IVAM, among others. The Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia, the IVACOR (restoration and conservation of buildings and cultural goods), the Valencian Library and the cultural policy around the book depend on Patrimonio.
