The Valencian president, Carlos Mazón, has dismissed, at the request of the Minister of Justice and Interior, Elisa Núñez (Vox), the undersecretary of this department, Luis Manuel Martín Domínguez, also from Abascal’s party, because it was known that he was convicted of violence gender in 2011 in a conformity ruling. The decision was adopted by the Consell de la Generalitat Valenciana in an emergency plenary session.

The spokesperson councillor, Ruth Merino, has stressed that her dismissal has occurred due to the “total loss of confidence” of the councillor, although they have not wanted to offer more information on the situation of the dismissed person. Elisa Núñez explained that she learned of the conviction for gender violence this morning. She then sent a letter to the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, to show her loss of confidence in one of his senior officials.

The dismissal of this senior position has been approved just under two months after his appointment at the end of July. Another representative of Vox, the one who was a candidate for the Generalitat and later head of the Congress list for Valencia, Carlos Flores, was also convicted in 2002 of psychological violence towards his ex-partner. Flores renounced his status as regional deputy after March 28 in the negotiation of the government pact with the PP.

The councilor stressed that “action has been taken quickly because this is a loss of confidence on the part of the person who had appointed this high position.” “Of course, we have responded to her request because it is the most logical thing to do,” she stressed.

For his part, Núñez has confirmed that the high-ranking official who was dismissed was a personal appointment on his part and that he belongs to his party (Vox), while he did not want to give more information about the sentence, considering it “a rather personal issue” and “not violate the right to privacy and respect all data protection legislation.” In any case, he has guaranteed that the decision to dismiss him came from her upon learning of this “information that he was unaware of” and that it had not “been conveyed to him by the person.” “Evidently, the loss of trust is total,” she stated.

Asked about the difference between the conviction of Carlos Flores and this last case and about the consistency of the Consell in both cases, the head of Justice defended that she has acted “coherently, within the framework of the government pact” between the PPCV and Vox. “Consequently, at the same time that I became aware of it, I sent it to the president by letter urging his dismissal,” she explained, and has not specified how she found out about the conviction out of “prudence.” .

Luis Manuel Martín Domínguez has a degree in Law from the University of Huelva, with a course from the II Executive Program of Leadership and Government of the Higher Institute of Sociology, Economics and Politics (ISSEP). Among his last activities is that he worked at the Social Housing Agency of the Community of Madrid between June 2021 and until his appointment, according to the information on the Generalitat website.
