The first meeting between the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, and the leader of the PSPV, Diana Morant, has opened the door to the possible unblocking of the statutory bodies, which have expired for more than a year. An offer that the head of the Consell has made to the general secretary of the main opposition party and that she has committed to studying.

It has not been a resounding yes, since the minister has also been very harsh during the meeting with the PP and Vox government and its legislative proposals, but Morant’s entourage points out that we must be coherent and that she has always shown herself favorable to the unblocking, at the state level, of the General Council of the Judiciary. Of course, the leader of the PSPV has once again demanded that she break her relationship with Vox. “The extreme right should never have entered the government of the Generalitat,” she said.

We will have to see how this possible unlocking translates because in Les Corts, for months now, PSPV and Compromís have refused to negotiate with the PP since the opposition understands that Vox should not enter into the preparation of this type of agreements that are necessary to unblock institutions as important as the Sindicatura de Comptes or the Consell Jurídic Consultiu.

There have been few more meeting points despite the two-hour meeting at the Palau de la Generalitat. An appointment in which there have also been, despite the initial cordiality, moments of tension. The Valencian president has at all times defended the management of his government and the reformist agenda with the five controversial laws that Morant has asked him to withdraw. It won’t be like that.

Despite these moments, and other disagreements such as the formula to avoid more accidents on the Alfafar train tracks, both leaders have committed to continue talking in the future and to respond to the requests made by each of them. Nor has a date been specified for the next meeting.

Surprisingly, the minister’s entourage has indicated that there has been no talk of financing, although there has been talk of water since the head of the Consell has offered the general secretary of the PSPV to join the so-called Water Table. Another offer that Morant has offered to analyze, although she does not want it to be used as a weapon against the Government of Spain.

However, in a statement, the Genralitat has reported that, during the meeting, the head of the Consell has offered to unblock the Valencian institutions to advance self-government, as well as “constitute a constructive front” on essential issues for the Valencian Community such as regional financing, water, State investments or the equalization fund, which “compensates our territory given that it is currently the worst financed.”

An option – that of the equalization fund – with which the minister has avoided committing herself, alleging the need to have a complete debate on the regional financing model. Morant has taken the opportunity to blame the PP for blocking the system.

On the other hand, Carlos Mazón has highlighted the need to dialogue and reach agreements on issues that contribute to the economic and social development of the Valencian Community, “leaving aside confrontation and walls and ensuring the real interests of citizens. ”.

Where there has been an attempt at understanding when it comes to committing to not launch hoaxes against the adversary, to “not reward pseudomedia” and to work for “democratic regeneration.” Nothing has been finalized.
