Matthias Kühn defeats the Balearic government and will be compensated with 95 million

For almost 25 years Matthias Kühn has been in conflict with the Balearic government and the different teams that have been in charge, both popular and socialist. As this newspaper has learned, the Supreme Court has just put an end to the long contentious-administrative process, ruling in favor of Norma Duval’s husband’s company, which will be compensated by the Administration with an amount that could be close to 100 million euros. –mainly plus interests– to declassify and convert into rustic a piece of land in Sóller where he could never build the super-luxury development he dreamed of.

La Muleta II, the name given to the frustrated urbanization on the plan, is located at the top of the same mountain where Muleta exists: 34 thousand m2 meters that Kühn acquired through the company Birdie Son Vida in 1999 and where he dreamed of a development project. 33 mansions with unbeatable views and private security, a refuge similar to the one built in Las Brisas (Andratx), the latter project which involved the sale of important mansions to figures such as Florentino Pérez and Michael Schumacher, Formula 1 legend.

Sources of all solvency tell this newspaper that Kühn’s companies have felt how the administrations have taken the piss of them for almost 25 years in this and other projects. Specifically, in Muleta II, when presenting the project – whose urbanization, lighting and sewerage was already under development – ??they closed all avenues, responding that this land was going to be declared rural due to an urban planning moratorium. It was in 2008.

In 2013 and to put an end to the dispute that had begun, the Government proposed a transactional agreement to continue with his promotion in exchange for withdrawing the lawsuit. Thus, the Kühn Group approached the city council of Sóller to incorporate Muleta II into the municipal PGOU as urban land and resume its development. They were met with a resounding no. After several years of delays, the agreement never materialized. Furthermore, due to legislative changes and non-compliance with the agreement, it meant having to restructure the entire business.

Now, as a consequence of previous actions, the Government of Margalida Prohens will now have to face a million-dollar responsibility: its lawyers are already working to make the final calculation of an amount that in 2022, when the Superior Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands agreed with it. , was 63,533,374 euros plus 28 interest, today it is between 95 and 100 million euros.
