This Saturday, nearly 20,000 Valencian fans once again rejected the management of the club’s largest shareholder, Peter Lim, and showed their discontent with the position of the Valencian government with the Nou Mestalla in a demonstration organized by Libertad VCF with the aim of “avoiding a new infamy”.
A banner with the motto “Your betrayal, our sentence. 1919-2030” led the demonstration that, after reading a manifesto, left at 5 p.m. from Calle de las Barcas, on the corner with Plaza del Ayuntamiento, to Mestalla, where this Saturday Valencia hosts Real Madrid .
The Valencian fans mobilized en masse to demand the departure of the largest shareholder. The sporting, economic and social drift of the club, together with the lack of a solution for the new Cortes Valencianas stadium, which has been stopped for more than 15 years, are the reasons why he said “enough” to the management of Meriton Holdings.
There were also critical chants towards President Layhoon Chan and important employees of Meriton Holdings in the city, corporate director Javier Solís and sports director Miguel Ángel Corona, as well as former club president Amadeo Salvo, who was an active part of the arrival of Lim to Valencia.
“Peter, go away now”, “Solís, scoundrel, out of Mestalla”, “Corona is a vase”, “Layhoon Chan, liar”, Except scammer”, “No agreement, Valencia yes” and “Valencia is us”, were some of the songs.
The economic vice president of Libertad VCF, Carlos Pavía, explained to EFE that this is the most important protest they have organized: “As always, it is directed at Peter Lim, who is the one who is ending and destroying the club, but we want to emphasize that the stadium and the 2030 World Cup could be Valencia’s sentence.”
“To think that Valencia can finish the stadium with 80 million CVC is totally utopian. Peter Lim wants all the rights and an agreement to value his actions more. He doesn’t want to finish the stadium, he wants the urban benefits to get more profit in a future sale,” he said.
The president of the association, José Pérez, agreed with his colleague on the importance of the moment in which the demonstration takes place.
In addition to showing rejection of the largest shareholder, “we need politicians to understand that their society is asking them to do something to negotiate with Lim his departure from the club,” he said.
The association against Peter Lim has been advertising this demonstration on social networks for weeks and in the last four days a van has traveled the streets of Valencia with two slogans. On one side you can read ‘2014-2024. The infamy repeats itself. Demonstrate for the defense of our shield’, in reference to the date of sale of the club, and on the other its usual motto ‘Lim go home’ (Lim go home).
The call was a success, with 20,000 Valencian fans – according to the organizers – who arrived at Mestalla in a peaceful march supported by the Col.lectiu de Penyes Valencianistes, De Torino a Mestalla, Últimes Vesprades a Mestalla, Espíritu del 86, Viachers and VCF Sud Yomus also attended and its members were last.
Before the march began, a minute of silence was observed for the victims of the Campanar fire.
