Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, businessman and former president of Real Betis, died this Saturday night in Seville at the age of 79, as reported by his family to Cadena Ser.

Ruiz de Lopera has not been able to overcome the latest medical problems, which caused him to be admitted to the ICU of the Santa Isabel clinic in Seville on January 5 due to a chronic intestinal ailment, for which he already underwent surgery in 2017.

The former Verdiblanco president presided over the Betic club from 1992 until 2010 when Judge Mercedes Alaya seized the shares of his company Farusa.
