With this movement, the PP candidate, who aspires to recover the mayoralty by an absolute majority and prevent a new pact between the other political formations that would once again leave him without the command rod that was in his power from 2011 to 2015, Ciudadanos remains dismasted in Castelldefels just a few days before the closing of the candidacies. Now, six weeks before the polls, he will have to appoint a new mayor.
Massana, who had lost the confidence of the regional Ciudadanos committee in recent weeks by not wanting to confirm that he would repeat as head of the party list, and Corona will join the Reyes list as independents and will appear among the top positions in the candidacy of the PP, which some surveys place very close to the absolute majority.
Popular sources indicate that Reyes is only 300 votes away from achieving a majority and thus revalidating the mayoralty eight years later. In this sense, in the PP they remember that their list has won the last three municipal elections, but could only govern in the 2011-2015 legislature, since in the following ones, despite having been the most voted force, “a pact of losers among ten political formations took the mayoralty from him”.
In the statement announcing the signing, the PP assures that the two councilors up to now members of Ciudadanos join Reyes’ candidacy in order to “achieve the majority” and “the change that Castelldefels needs”, and, in this sense, they appeal to the useful vote for the popular mayor: “The alternative is either the PP, with Manu Reyes as mayor, or repeat the pact of losers.”
“Only by uniting the vote in Manu Reyes and the PP, the only party with real options to win the mayoralty, Castelldefels will once again have an effective government that knows how to manage, solving the real problems of the neighbors, as it has already shown”, he explains. the PP in his note, in which the voters and affiliates of Ciudadanos are invited to concentrate their vote on the candidacy of Reyes and the PP.
Next weekend, coinciding with the day of Sant Jordi and the celebration of the Godó trophy in Barcelona, ​​the national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will be in Catalonia and will visit Castelldefels to give his support to the candidacy of Reyes, who is Also, president of the party in the province of Barcelona.
For its part, the regional Citizens Committee has reacted by denouncing the “lack of loyalty” of Massana, head of the list in 2015 and 2019, and his “inability to build a solvent team” to contribute to the May 28 elections. .
