Manga Barcelona delivers its awards and prepares for three days of 'sold out'

Starting an event with an awards ceremony is doing it in style. This has been the commitment of Manga Barcelona for years and, for the first time, this edition turns the public into a jury. “Everyone who reads manga and watches anime is the true protagonist of these awards,” said Meritxell Puig, general director of Ficomic, who acted as master of ceremonies alongside Oriol Estrada, content advisor for the show.

Both have recalled that the contest has incorporated a new special award this year, that of best anime with dubbing in Catalan, which has gone to Sakura, la caçadora de cartes, broadcast on the SX3 channel of TV3, and which last year celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The Manga Barcelona fair kicked off this Thursday at the Fira Gran Via venue in Barcelona, ??where it is set up for the second consecutive year due to the continuous full capacity of past editions and the constant demand from otakus for a larger space.

It should be said that, despite the fact that this time it has more square meters than its previous location in Montjuic and that the last edition – a total of 85,000 -, in this 29th edition it has also been sold out on most of the days it has. The event will take place, from December 7 to 10, and the organization hopes to match, and who knows if exceed, the 163,000 attendees reached in 2022. However, hopes are not lost for anyone who does not have a ticket, Because “as capacity flows, some more tickets may go on sale,” the organizers assure La Vanguardia.
