I share in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos three images from this morning in Barcelona captured from the Fabra Observatory and with Mallorca in the background.

At first, around 7:45 am, you could see the profile of the island of Mallorca very clearly. It is not an exceptional fact, every year between autumn and winter it is quite common to see it from here.

But, today was the first clear sighting of the season and we can see three photographs that bear witness to it. Surely there will be more occasions.

The presence on the horizon of Mallorca is revealed by the silhouette of the Tramuntana mountain range, which is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the category of Cultural Landscape. In this case, we can even see one of the ships that has left the port of Barcelona heading to the island.

Its profile is the most identifiable thing about Mallorca when it can be seen from Barcelona on days when weather conditions allow it.

The Fabra is not only an astronomical observatory, but, as we can see in these images, it is also a splendid viewpoint of Barcelona and even Mallorca. It is located on a buttress of the Tibidabo mountain, facing south, at 415 meters above sea level.
