In this series of images in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can contemplate the magic generated by the fog at dawn in Cabrerès and Montseny, seen from Manlleu, in the Osona region.
One of the most curious images is to see, in fast motion, how the balloons chase each other flying above the fog along the mountain ridges. We can see it in the following video.
The fog moves stealthily behind the Puig-agut sanctuary in this other accelerated video. This was the first temple of its kind in Spain to be dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Its construction was promoted at the end of the 19th century by Ramón Madirolas y Codina, an innovative farmer.
The fog envelops everything in these first moments of the day. Only the Rodalies train, leaving a luminous trail in its wake, seems to break the covered landscape.
Osona is the area of ??Spain with the most days a year with fog, a meteorological phenomenon that consists of the suspension of very small water droplets in the atmosphere or of humid hygroscopic particles, which reduce horizontal visibility at a distance of one kilometer or more.
If the phenomenon gives a vision of 1 km or less it is considered fog; and if it allows you to see more than 1 km, the phenomenon is fog.
One of the areas covered by fog is Cabrerès. It is located between the Prelitoral and Transversal mountain ranges. It is a plateau formed by a structural platform with cliffs to the south and east, with Tavertet, the Far or l’Avenc, drawn by the erosion of the Ter, and with an average altitude of 1100 meters.
The fog is also advancing over Montseny, part of the Catalan pre-littoral mountain range. It is a massif located on the border of the regions of Vallès Oriental, Selva and Osona. This mountain is separated from Les Guilleries by a fracture. Its highest peaks are Turó de l’Home, 1712 meters high; Les Agudes, at 1706 meters of altitude and El Matagalls, at a height of 1700 meters.
