Now, the Community of Madrid has announced that it will “provisionally” prevent access to the Metro and buses with electric scooters to guarantee the safety of travelers. A measure that has also been adopted in other regions. The veto in Catalonia, which began as a temporary six-month ban, later extended, will remain in place until these personal mobility vehicles are considered safe.
The Madrid regional government reports in a statement that this measure has been provisionally agreed upon at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM), “until the safety conditions of this type of elements in the public transport”.
The ban will come into force this coming November 4 and will be applied to the buses of the Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (EMT) and interurban and urban buses in other municipalities, as well as to the facilities and vehicles of Metro de Madrid and the five interchanges. from Plaza de Castilla, Moncloa, Príncipe Pío, Plaza Elíptica and Avenida de América.
The regional Executive points out that the protection of the workers of the different companies has also prevailed in the decision. Failure to comply with this limitation will lead to the expulsion of the offenders.
