The route of Metro line 12 (MetroSur) between the Juan de la Cierva and Los Espartales stations will be closed for about six months starting next Friday, March 1, due to the extension works on line 3, which involve the closure of the El Casar station, and in its place the Community of Madrid will provide buses from Avenida de España to Rigoberta Menchú.
The alternative route with free buses will include four stops with a frequency of six minutes during rush hour and 15 at night on weekdays, explains the Community of Madrid in a press release.
The section in which the bus will temporarily replace the metro is 3.2 kilometers, and includes four stops in the Getafense municipality, on the avenues of España, Rigoberta Menchú, Gibraltar and de la Rabia.
The works will last approximately six months and the global project has an investment of 110 million euros, including European Next Generation funds, says the Community in its statement.
During this time, existing facilities, such as communications, electrification or energy, and current roads will be dismantled, which will later be restored.
The objective is to provide MetroSur with a second link with the center of Madrid, linking the Villaverde Alto stations with El Casar, which will benefit more than a million users in the municipalities of Getafe, Leganés, Móstoles and Alcorcón, to whom will allow you to reach Puerta del Sol in half an hour.
