The company Eave, supplier and installer of charging points and photovoltaic panels, is going to make 200 electric and hybrid cars available to citizens to test drive them from April 19 to 21 in the heart of the capital, La Castellana, in free form.

It is an initiative of the energy startup that seeks to solve the doubts of citizens regarding autonomy, power, charging speed or subsidies for this type of car.

They will be Mercedes Benz and Smart cars that will be installed in the outdoor parking lot of El Corte Inglés in Nuevos Ministerios from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to test them during those days.

According to a report by Roland Berger, 63% of Spanish drivers want to buy an electric car. And another study by BBVA Research ensures that in Europe, the share of this type of vehicle will be 55% in 2030, a figure that could reach 84% in the year 2035. For Luis Linares, Eave’s CEO, “the objective is to help society move towards a more sustainable future.”

However, the reasons why Spaniards do not buy an electric car continue to be the price (66%), autonomy (57%), not having a space to recharge (40%) and recharging time ( 39%), according to a Cetelem report made public these days. In fact, an electric car costs an average of 41,571 euros, compared to 31,912 euros for a combustion car.

However, the acquisition of this type of vehicle has subsidies. Specifically, Moves III is underway, which offers incentives for 100% electric models, plug-in hybrids with more than 40 kilometers of electric range and vehicles that run on hydrogen. The plan has been increasing its endowment, up to 1,200 million, since in some Autonomous Communities the initially allocated budget has already been exhausted. The aid ranges from 1,300 euros for electric motorcycles to 9,000 euros for vehicles for commercial use. However, on average, the subsidy is 7,000 euros for electric and hydrogen cars and 5,000 euros for plug-in hybrids. Of course, you have to scrap a car that is more than 7 years old; otherwise the aid decreases.
