Madrid competes this week to manage to cook the best hamburger in Europe. From April 13 to 23, the fourth edition of The Champions Burger festival is held in the Madrid town of Las Rozas.
The event was attended by 19 hamburger restaurants from the Community of Madrid, competing to be chosen as the best establishment. Three establishments will advance to the final.
The idiosyncrasy of this event is that the public that attends the gastronomic festival chooses and votes for their favorite hamburger. Chefs have been presented with a wide variety of gourmet burgers, from the classic to the most innovative, through the author or the most avant-garde.
The three Madrid hamburgers with the best score will go to the national contest, which will be held at the Ciutat de València football stadium in July. In addition, the hamburgers made in Spain will compete with ten hamburger restaurants from other countries of the European Union.
To vote, diners who attend the event have to, after tasting their hamburger, scan the QR code printed on the ticket they are given when ordering and rate it. They have to rate the bread, the meat and the combination of ingredients.
In the 2022 Spanish edition, the winner was the Valencian restaurant Jenkin’s with its Emmy B burger, a glazed saloon that embraced the exclusive blacks angus meat, with smoked cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, pickles and Korean sauce.
The big hamburger tent has been installed in the Las Rozas fairgrounds, located on Avenida Nuestra Señora de Retamar, without number. And the hours are Monday to Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
