Today, May 15, Madrid celebrates its patron saint, San Isidro Labrador. Like every year, Madrid residents enjoy their tradition in their Pradera, eating donuts and drinking lemonade.
This refreshing drink, popularly known as “limoná”, is typical of Madrid celebrations, being consumed mainly in the aforementioned San Isidro and in the La Paloma festivities, on August 15. Do you dare to make it at home? Below, we leave you the recipe.
To make a delicious Madrid lemonade, the ideal is to macerate the juice, lemon peels, a cinnamon stick, sugar, fruit and wine for about 24 hours. If you don’t have enough time, you can always enjoy an express version.
First, cut the lemons in half and squeeze them. In a jug we add white wine, water and plenty of ice. You should also take into account the golden apple, which we cut into small squares and add to the contents of the jar. Finally, we add sugar, stir well and… enjoy!
