Madrid is today more dynamic than Catalonia. This is corroborated by the statistics of the Association of Registrars, but it is also intuited from common sense and dispassionate perception.
The news is positive for Catalonia: we have to wake up. It is not about committing seppuku –Japanese ritual suicide–, throwing plates at each other or going back to the catapun year of the 18th century. Just wake up and stop making excuses and grievances, arguments for losers.
The fact that Madrid is doing well in general terms and that it has acquired a very competitive economic course is the best stimulus for Catalonia. It is not a drama nor do you have to look for three feet to the cat. Is there anything better to wake up than the competition?
Naturally, the Generalitat tries to turn the matter around and hide in this or that statistic. Nothing new under the sun. When an event harms a government – ??here and in Kathmandu – the art of throwing balls out appears. In this case, for example, the argument is presented that the flight of companies from Catalonia is the least in five years. In other words, we lose, but not by a landslide, like in 2017.
To wake up you have to stop making excuses, complexes and bagpipes. The past, the past is. A mistake is never corrected by another mistake. 2017 was traumatic in many ways, especially for the business climate –each one will have their explanation–, but we are in the winter of 2023. Either we look ahead or we are going to continue seeing how the economic model of Madrid –is it all the fault of black hands? ?– strengthens its dynamism, and with it, its advantage over Catalonia, where we spend too much time debating the sex of angels.
Arrived at this crossroads, there are two options: get stuck in Madrid and try to make believe that, in reality, they are fatal – as was said in the post-pandemic, when Madrid helped its restoration instead of harming it and without killing anyone. or bet on everything that helps the Catalan business fabric. Such that less public spending, stop saying no to everything and lighten the tax burden.
