In her interview with Bertín Osborne in My house is yours, Luz Casal has revealed moving details about her courageous battle against breast cancer. The renowned Spanish singer she shared how she found the strength to continue singing and recording music even in the most difficult moments of her illness.
Luz Casal, who has faced two diagnoses of breast cancer in 2007 and 2010, addressed the issue of her illness during the talk with Bertín. The artist recalled the emotional impact of receiving the diagnosis: “The first time, when they gave me the result, I went to pick it up alone. My friends were waiting for me at the door. I didn’t think about myself or the consequences it could have. I faced reality and I moved on.”
The singer admitted that, faced with the evidence of cancer, she had two options: let herself be defeated or face it bravely. Despite her physical exhaustion, she chose to focus on her music and her recovery.
During her recovery process, Luz Casal recorded two music albums. Although she had to face difficult times, the singer did not allow cancer to take her away from her passion for music. Casal she confessed that during the recording of her album “Vida Toxica”, she was forced to sit in the studio due to her lack of energy: she “could not sing standing up, she had no strength”.
Despite the challenges she faced, Luz Casal decided to continue with her music and her concerts. Her goal was not to leave the stage for a long time. The singer recognized the harshness of the treatments and the consequences, but always found the strength to move on, knowing that things could be even worse: “Life is also a disease, but you have to draw conclusions so that the next thing is better and works for you ”.
