In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can appreciate the spring sunrise in L’Escala, in the Alt Empordà, with the omnipresent Mediterranean.
The name of L’Escala comes from the time of the Romans, Scala, which means dock or place where ships dock. It is not strange, then, that the sea is the protagonist of the sunrise in this part of the Costa Brava, just like the bright light that colors the sky.
The candilazo is a meteorological phenomenon in which the clouds in the sky show a wide palette of colors that goes from pink to the most intense orange. In this case, yellow and reddish tones complete the color palette of this photograph.
As part of the phenomenon of scattering of sunlight, in the morning and afternoon hours, when the sun is closest to the horizon, the light that reaches Earth is soft tones between red and orange.
In a certain way, when this light passes through the clouds, it illuminates them and it could be said that it colors them with those hues. In addition, we see how the reflections of the sun’s rays illuminate the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
The population center of L’Escala is made up of eight towns, among which Empúries, San Martí d’Empúries, Les Corts and Camps dels Pilans stand out.
