I captured this photograph for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia walking along the promenade that leads to the sea in El Prat de Llobregat, where, the proximity of the airport, allows us to portray the planes in their flight and takeoff operations. In this case, we see how the aircraft wants to leave behind the cloud illuminated by the sun, as if it wanted to flee from the blushing.

The red is the color that is seen in the clouds illuminated by the sun’s rays, especially at dawn and at sunset.

It is at this time of day that crepuscular rays are also visible, which, in atmospheric optics, are rays of sunlight that appear to radiate from a single point in the sky.

Streaming through openings in clouds (mostly stratocumulus), these rays are columns of sunlit air separated by dark cloud shadow regions.

The name comes from its frequent appearances during the twilight hours (sunrise and sunset), when the contrasts between light and dark are most obvious. Not in vain crepuscular comes from the Latin word crepusculum which means twilight.

In El Prat de Llobregat there are several viewpoints to practice spotting, which is the observation and registration of aircraft. It is such a popular practice among photography lovers that they are called spotters.
