In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can observe the evolution of the lenticular altocumulus in Pedraforca, images captured from La Pobla de Lillet, in Berguedà.

Altocumulus, which are clouds of water and ice with a white and gray appearance, are cottony, based on spherical or cylindrical flakes, generally with shadows between them, which have undulations or wide striations at the bottom.

These clouds often precede a cold front and signal the development of thunderclouds throughout the day. In fact, lenticulars are considered omen storm clouds.

The lenticular cloud is shaped like a lentil, as its name indicates, or a saucer or converging lens. They are stationary and form at high altitudes in mountainous areas and isolated from other clouds. In this case, we see them around Pedraforca. It is one of the most emblematic mountains in Catalonia, located in the Sierra del Cadí, within the area of ??the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park.

Located on the border between the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida, Pedraforca has a very peculiar shape due to its two peaks separated by a large col.

Its best known view is the one that can be seen from its eastern slope. At the northern peak we find the Pollegó Superior peak, at 2,506 meters high, and the Calderer peak, at 2,505 meters high. The southern peak is made up of Pollegó Inferior, 2,445 meters high.
