The singer-songwriter and former parliamentarian, Lluís Llach, has been the candidate with the most votes in the elections for the National Secretariat of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC), which began on May 14 and concluded at noon this Saturday.

The pro-independence entity has made public the results of these elections to elect the 77 members of the National Secretariat, held electronically, in which the three candidates with the most votes have been three former deputies in the Parliament: Lluís Llach, with 3,268 votes; Josep Costa, with 3,105, Julià de Jòdar, with 2,240. As reported by the ANC in a statement, on Thursday, May 23, once any claims have been resolved, the Electoral Board will make public the final results.

The national secretaries elected by the full members of the entity will meet on May 25 in Vilafranca del Penedès in the plenary session of the constitution of the new National Secretariat, who will elect the four organic positions: presidency, vice-presidency, treasury and secretary . To be elected, candidates for these positions will have to achieve the support of two-thirds of the Secretariat.

3,976 members of the sovereign entity have participated in the elections, which represents an increase of almost 20 percent compared to the 2022 elections. In these internal elections, a total of 77 national secretaries have been chosen, who carry out their functions as collegiate form and are structured by blocks: 57 for the territorial block, 13 for the national block, five for the sectoral block and two for the youth.

The new leadership will replace the one that Dolors Feliu has presided over in recent years, who is saying goodbye to her position after the bitter internal defeat suffered in March, when the bases of the entity rejected, in a consultation, her proposal to promote a “civic list ” independence movement to the Catalan elections.
