Lleida City Council has started the ‘Barri a barri’ cleaning shock plan. Some 35 workers from all municipal services and cleaning and maintenance companies contracted by the council will work in the Bordeta neighborhood for three days. The performances will move next week to the Secà de Sant Pere and progressively to the other areas of the municipality.
The mayor, Fèlix Larrosa, explained that the project has as its objective an “orderly, clean, proud and friendly” city and that the existing economic resources have been managed so that the plan has “0 cost”. In addition, Larrosa has warned that the government team intends to toughen the sanctions against incivility. “Whoever does not comply must pay,” said the mayor.
The intensive cleaning campaign neighborhood by neighborhood in the city of Lleida is already underway. The starting signal was given this Wednesday, June 5, in the morning when about forty workers from different fields have begun to clean and carry out maintenance work in the streets, sewers, parks, gardens, lighting, among others, of La Bordeta, one of the largest neighborhoods in the city.
Likewise, another delegation of about thirty people made up of the mayor Fèlix Larrosa (PSC) and members of his government team, those responsible for municipal services, cleaning and maintenance companies contracted by the council, as well as representatives of the residents of the Bordeta neighborhood have traveled different streets in the area to observe the actions of the operators and determine which should be prioritized.
“All the companies and collaborators in their different fields such as street cleaning, maintenance of street furniture, parks and gardens, we are all here to work”, Larrosa stated. “For three days we will do this intensive cleaning in La Bordeta and next week we will all meet in another neighborhood like Secano de Sant Pere”, he specified.
This intensive cleaning plan will be extended in the coming months to each of the neighborhoods in the city of Lleida and will be adapted to their needs. Larrosa explained that while the action is being carried out “the city will maintain general cleaning and maintenance services, but workers from each of the areas will concentrate for a few days in each neighborhood to work with a specific schedule.” In this sense, the technical services will determine the duration of the actions based on the needs and characteristics of each area of ??the capital of Segrià.
Likewise, the mayor of Lleida has advanced that his government team has already opened the folder of civility ordinances to review and toughen those sanctions “that should end up being incorporated into the collective imagination of the citizenry. Those who do not comply must pay”, has warned Larrosa, who has also detailed that surveillance on public roads will be intensified.
