With a budget of 2.7 million, Àngel Llàcer, Manu Guix and Nostromo Live put all the meat on the grill. But they are convinced that the project deserves it. This is The Producers, a musical by Mel Brooks that is “the sum of all the musicals” they have done, declares the artistic team.
La Vanguardia has had exclusive access to images of the latest preparations for this great musical, which will begin performances on September 15 at the Tívoli theater in Barcelona and will have its luxury premiere on the 28th of this month.
The musical The Producers was born from Mel Brooks’ 1967 film of the same name, which he and Thomas Meehan turned into the great show that opened on Broadway in 2001, with music by Brooks and Glen Kelly.
The story told by The Producers is that of two producers who want to make the worst show in history, to make it an absolute failure and thus lower the curtain on the very day of the premiere to go to Rio de Janeiro with all the money together. of subsidies and so on.
“For this purpose, they hire the worst professionals on the scene, such as a Nazi playwright or an actress who can’t speak, but despite all this, the show ends up being a great success and everything changes,” sums up Llàcer. The actor and director has reserved a special role and will appear on the stage of the Tivoli theater characterized as Adolf Hitler, but in pink tones.
