Las Terres de l’Ebre, in the south of the province of Tarragona, have received Next Generation EU funds for a total of 48.6 million euros distributed among 1,300 entities, as detailed this Wednesday in Tortosa by the Minister of Economy, Natalia Further.

The representative of the Generalitat has stated that of the total, 36.8 million have been committed by the regional administration and the other 11.8 million come from state calls.

The financial resources have gone to 53 local corporations, 460 companies, 8 public sector entities, 27 non-profit entities, 3 research and training centers and 790 individuals from the four southern regions of Tarragona.

Some of the projects that will allow these funds to be developed are the sustainable rehabilitation of the Cases del Castell in Amposta, the transformation of urban transport in Tortosa and actions in the biosphere reserve, among other projects.

“We are meeting the objective of territorial balance in raising funds, reaching 96.2% of the territory,” detailed the head of Catalan finances.

These data were presented by Mas in an event organized by the territorial delegation of the Generalitat in Terres de l’Ebre, which the minister has called a “transparency exercise.”

Mas explained that this presentation has not been easy due to “the high opacity” with which the central government manages these resources.

“The data tells us that Catalonia is doing substantially better than the other territories of the State,” the Catalan councilor continued to criticize.

During the speech, Mas praised the Next Generation funds, since he considers them strategic and “a historic opportunity” due to the volume of resources to be distributed.

The head of the Department of Economy has also added that this aid represents “a step forward in the process of building the European Union.”
