LaLiga has decided to report Zaragoza footballer Víctor Mollejo to the Competition Committee after his obscene gesture while celebrating his goal against Cartagena, in the Second Division. The striker ostensibly grabbed his genitals in an out-of-place celebration that quickly went viral.

The Spanish football employers’ association has reacted quickly at a time when sensitivity is the order of the day in this regard, since it is reminiscent of a highly criticized gesture by Luis Rubiales in the box at the Women’s World Cup final. This is one of the reasons why the president of the RFEF has been suspended by FIFA and why the CSD intends to disqualify the leader.

LaLiga, chaired by Javier Tebas, wants to demonstrate in this way that it will be very much on top of the behavior of the players and that it does not intend to tolerate certain attitudes.

Mollejo closed Zaragoza’s 1-3 victory in Cartagena with that goal in the 92nd minute. Trained in the Atlético youth academy, the player has not yet started this season under the orders of Fran Escribá and his reaction after the goal was unfortunate and excessive.
