King Juan Carlos returns to Spain a week after his last visit

King Juan Carlos’s trips to Spain are becoming more frequent, a week after his last visit to attend in Madrid, on Saturday, April 8, the wedding of the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida and Teresa Urquijo, and , the following Monday, at the funeral of his nephew Fernando Gómez-Acebo, King Juan Carlos is already in Sanxenxo (Pontevedra) to participate in the second series of the Spanish league of the 6 meter class, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday in the Pontevedra estuary.

The King’s father landed this noon, around 12:15 p.m., at Peinador airport, in Vigo, on a private plane from Geneva (Switzerland). Again it is a flight of the VistaJet company, whose owner is the father-in-law of Prince Phillipos of Greece. Due to his continuous trips to Spain, King Juan Carlos has established a kind of punctual operations center in Geneva, although he maintains his official and fiscal residence in Abu Dhabi. During his stays in the Swiss city, the former head of state has set up an apartment, belonging to a hotel complex, where he keeps some of his personal belongings, including furniture.

What began this Wednesday is his third visit to Spain in 2024, the tenth since he established his residence in Abu Dhabi in 2020. The King’s father, as usual, was received on the track, at the foot of the stairs, by his friend Pedro Campos and his wife, Cristina Franza, who once again act as hosts for the emeritus during his stay in the tourist town of Sanxenxo.

King Juan Carlos, who was wearing a dark blue nautical jacket and light shirt, sat in the passenger seat of Campos’ car and then faced the road trip – about 40 minutes – to his destination in Galicia.

Both upon his departure from Vigo airport, on a sunny day, and upon his arrival at Campos’ house, the King’s father greeted the journalists and graphic artists who were waiting for him.

The emeritus king already competed last month in the first series of the Spanish 6M league, which was also organized by the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, an entity chaired by Campos.

On that trip, he also previously passed through Vitoria for a medical check-up before traveling to Galicia.
