After the main opposition party in Catalonia, the PSC, removed the possibility of attending the summit due to the clarity agreement that the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, wants to convene in June, the second opposition party and ERC’s former ally in the Government, JuntsxCat has left its presence at this meeting on the air, which does not yet have a date.

This was explained by the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, who in an interview on TV3 warned Aragonès that the clarity agreement does not have “neither the endorsement of Parliament, nor of the pro-independence forces and not even of the majority of voters on October 1”. For all this, and after pointing out that the president already knows his position, this agreement “we do not see it in any way”, Turull has answered with a laconic “we will see what we do”, asked about the attendance of his party at the summit.

The number two of Junts, has ironized that what is needed is “a clear agreement between the independence forces” and has reproached the Government of Aragonès for having “more complicity to satisfy those who are absolutely against the independence of Catalonia ” than in returning to “remake the independence movement from the institutions and from civil society.” “With this council that it has created, you can already see where things are going,” Turull lamented, implicitly alluding to the inclusion of the political scientist Astrid Barrio in the Consell Acadèmic per l’Acord de Claredat.

Turull has also charged the Government for the “terrible” management of the drought and, in particular, he has been especially harsh with the Minister of Climate Action, Teresa Jordà, of whom he has said that “he neither does nor lets it be done” in that matter. In this sense, he has accused the Catalan Executive of “centrifuging responsibilities” in the town halls for focusing its decree against the drought on the sanctions to the municipalities, the same day that the Parliament will debate the processing by single reading of the JxCat bill with measures to combat drought. With everything, Turull has shown himself confident in being able to agree with ERC on the measures against the drought, and thus be able to carry out the bill with the support of “100 deputies”, which would be those of the PSC, ERC, JxCat and a fourth formation. .

On the other hand, Turull has argued that “because of the prestige of the Generalitat someone has to assume responsibilities” for the irregularities in the process of oppositions to convert interim officials of the Generalitat.

Over the weekend, JxCat and the PSC-Units group accused the Government of “centrifuging” responsibilities in the face of the “chaos” for the incidents during the opposition process and asked the Minister of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà, to appear to give explanations . “According to what Minister Vilagrà says, we will see who we ask for responsibilities. It has been a chaos that discredits the Generalitat”, Turull said in this regard, adding that, as with the drought, “sectarianism and incompetence”.
