Junts asks the Government for 16,000 million to alleviate the effects of the electricity bill

Junts per Catalunya will present an amendment to the general State budget in the Senate so that the Government allocates 16,000 million euros to city councils, SMEs and the self-employed to mitigate the effects of the increase in electricity costs and help pay this bill. The amendment has already been rejected in the Congress of Deputies and will now insist on processing in the Upper House. In the event that it does not prosper, the formation led by Laura Borràs and Jordi Turull wants to show, as it argues, that the executive leaves local administrations and companies without this “necessary aid”.

In the process of amendments in the Senate, Junts will request 10,000 million euros for SMEs and the self-employed and 6,000 million for municipalities. “It is time to be on the side of citizens and administrations,” said Míriam Nogueras, spokesperson for Junts in the Congress of Deputies, in presenting these proposals.

In this sense, the leader of the training in Madrid has warned of the “complicated winter” that is coming and the closure of some companies for not being able to assume these expenses. Josep Lluís Cleries, spokesman in the Senate, has warned that in the event that his initiative is not approved, they will continue trying through other types of proposals in the coming weeks.

Junts has also recalled that it has already presented an amendment to the tax on electricity companies – which was rejected by PSOE and Unidas Podemos – to “guarantee that what is collected is distributed to the communities so that the municipalities can face” the bill , in the words of Nogueras.

In this sense, Cleries has criticized the Government for the energy saving decree, approved in August, which provided for aid of 1,360 million to the electricity sector. “It is inexplicable,” she stressed. The leader of Junts has taken the opportunity to censor the distribution of Next Generation funds: “It is the constant taking of the Spanish State.”
