Juneteenth Parade, Annual Celebration Set to Kick Off in Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The Myrtle Beach community is gearing up for the annual Juneteenth Parade and Celebration hosted by the Neighborhood Services Department. The event is set to take place on Saturday, June 15, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The parade will make its way through downtown Myrtle Beach, passing through North Oak Street, Mr. Joe White Avenue, Carver Street, and 18th Avenue North, before concluding at Carver Street and 18th Avenue North.
Following the parade, the festivities will continue at Charlie’s Place, located at 1420 Carver Street, where the Annual Juneteenth Celebration will be hosted by “Clean Comedian,” Nikitta B. Attendees can look forward to an Afrocentric fashion show, food and craft vendors, and live music featuring performances by the “Live in the Flesh” Band, Don Colton, Myrtle Beach Middle School Dance Team, Golden Fury Drumline, and Socastee High School.
Juneteenth is a significant day in U.S. history, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved individuals on June 19, 1865. This federal holiday holds great importance in the African American community and serves as a time for reflection and celebration.
