Club Joventut de Badalona has expressed its “total revulsion” for “the chants and insults made by part of the stands” against Guerschon Yabusele, during this Saturday’s game against Real Madrid.

The Frenchman was insulted with shouts of “murderer, murderer” which has led the Association of Basketball Clubs (ACB) to issue a statement announcing the initiation of an ordinary process in the Competition Committee of the Spanish Basketball Federation for the CBA competitions.

Through a statement, Joventut recalls that after the aforementioned chants were uttered, from the green-black entity and “proactively” measures were taken and “the appropriate instructions were given” so that the insults and chants were not repeated -, so that situation no longer occurred throughout the game.

“This type of attitude is not consistent with the values of the Penya, based on a deep respect for those involved in sports competitions, both organizers and referee teams, rivals and fans, their own and the opposing team,” the statement said. .

For this reason, the Badalona club reiterates its “strongest rejection” of this type of behavior in the facilities of the green-and-black entity and “in any of the tracks where our teams play their matches.”

“That is why we ask our fans who attend the Palau Olímpic tomorrow, Monday, to encourage the team as much as possible, so that they beat the rival sportingly and thus force the fifth game of the tie, while demanding that they refrain from uttering insults to any participant, either orally or through banners,” the statement said.

Joventut considers that “being the cradle of basketball represents a great honor but also entails an immense responsibility”, and therefore urges them to “guard, honor and follow” the values with which the club was founded in 1930.

This same season, and at the beginning of February, the club already had to intervene in a similar case, after sending the Mossos the videos in which a Joventut fan at the Olímpic could be seen directing racist insults at Yago dos Santos, point guard Brazilian from Rathiopharm Ulm, during a Eurocup match.
