The rumors were not false. Joselu Mato has the firm intention of leaving Espanyol and is not shy when it comes to verbalizing it. The LaLiga striker assured in the microphones of El Golazo de Gol that his intention is to continue playing next season in the First Division. “We will start talking when the concentration is over. Hopefully next season I can continue playing in the First Division”, assured the Galician by adoption.

Joselu’s relationship with Espanyol began in a formidable way, but over time it has deteriorated, to the point that the fans whistled at him in the last game of the season against Almería, in which he was a substitute for alleged physical discomfort.

The striker did not understand the dismissal of Diego Martínez and showed his anger inside the locker room. His numbers did not worsen, but his performance, in the eyes of the fans, was not the same since his call-up with the Spanish team. In the final stretch of the championship, his goals came to a trickle and the team was finally relegated. Joselu finished the course with 16 goals, as the top Spanish scorer.

His brilliant statistics have not convinced the fans, but they have convinced other teams. Real Madrid seems to have set his sights on him to complement his lead and he could leave the team on loan, as contemplated in his contract in the event of relegation.
