ERC deputy Teresa Jordà has stated that PP deputy Carlos Floriano called her in August to offer the Republicans to speak with the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for his investiture, and the pro-independence party rejected the offer.
“What I can guarantee you is that Carlos Floriano called me in August to offer to speak with Núñez Feijóo for his investiture,” Jordà said this Tuesday in an interview with RNE, after the general secretary of ERC, Marta Rivera, revealed this contact, and after the PP denied that it negotiated with ERC or entered into conversations within the framework of the investiture.
Jordà has reported that Floriano called her at the end of August, days after the Congress Board was formed, to see if they could meet, to which she “collected the order”, transferred it, anticipating that she saw it as “complicated.” and communicated a “resolute no” to sitting down to talk to Feijóo.
The ERC deputy has expressed her doubts about Floriano calling her on his own, as PP sources have maintained, framing their contact in an informal and colloquial comment, but she has added that this is now “her word” and that she is unaware of that point. .
Jordà thinks that she was contacted by Floriano because until days before his call she had been in charge of the negotiations of the Congress Board, and therefore someone would tell her that she was the right interlocutor.
He has also reported that it was difficult to see the PP, and he warned this, because in his opinion this party provoked and put “gasoline in the conflict between Catalonia and the Spanish State”, he appealed the Statute, in the years 2016 and 2017 it did not offer dialogue but “promoted the path of criminalization” and also “fueled and fuels the Prosecutor’s Office” to accuse them of sedition, rebellion and terrorism.
Furthermore, he has described as “hypocrisy” the revelation that the Popular Party studied the legality of the amnesty for 24 hours, as published by 16 media outlets.
