Controversy hits Johnny Depp again. Almost two years after the end of the high-profile trial that involved the actor and his ex-partner, Amber Heard, the protagonist of Pirates of the Caribbean is once again in the center of the headlines. Depp has been accused of abuse by his co-star in the film Blow, Lola Glaudini. The events would have happened on the set of the police thriller, which was released in 2001.
It was the actress who recounted the episode she experienced while filming, and she did so on the podcast Poderosos Ángeles de la Verdad. Glaudini recalled being “reamed” by Depp on her first day on set. “The first day I didn’t even know Johnny Depp. I was at a bearskin race in a bikini. Ted Demme comes up to me and says, ‘Lola, when Johnny Depp says that particular word, I want you to laugh.’ like I just told you the funniest thing.’ We’re at the bottom, at the bottom, okay?” he explained.
The actress, 52, said that after Depp said his monologue she laughed, just as she was told. “Johnny Depp comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face, and I’m in a bikini on the floor, like this, and he comes up to me and says, ‘Who the fuck do you think you are? Shut the fuck up. I’m here, trying to say my lines, and you’re outside, concentrating. You fucking idiot. Oh, now it’s not so funny? Now can you shut the hell up? In the silence you’re in now, that’s how you stay,'” explained the actress.
The actress explained how it shocked her that an actor she had always admired treated her that way. “This was my first studio film, until then I had only done independent films. And I have the star that I have idolized, who I am so excited to work with, who scratched me in the face,” she expressed. “The only thing I had in my head was: ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry,'” Lola said honestly.
After experiencing this moment, the Criminal Minds actress called her father to tell him what happened. “You have two options right now,” he told her. “You can say ‘fuck this, screw him, and never let him see you sweat,'” her parent told him. “And I said, ‘Okay, I want to stay in the movie,'” she said. On the other hand, the actress said that Depp later “gave me an apology without apologizing.” He told her during filming: “You know what I’m doing.” that Boston accent, and it’s really screwing me up.” At the moment, neither the actor nor his entourage have commented on this moment.
