Joaquín Sánchez, current captain of Real Betis and the player who has played the most games with the Andalusian team, announced this Wednesday that he is retiring from football.

He has done it in an emotional video that Betis has broadcast on social networks. In fact, one of the doubts for the next season was the continuity of the iconic player, which has already been resolved with the publication of said video.

At 41 years old, Joaquín Sánchez is playing his fourteenth season in the Real Betis first team, a team from which he left in 2006 and to which he returned in 2015 after passing through Valencia, Málaga and Fiorentina.

The footballer has three Copas del Rey to his credit -two with Betis and one with Valencia- and was also a regular for the Spanish team for several years, between 2002 and 2007.

This season, Joaquín has played a total of 23 games with Betis and has scored one goal, specifically against Ludogorets in the Europa League.
