The Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, announced this morning the arrival of 15 new Mossos d’Esquadra agents in Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelonès North). Elena has announced it in the framework of a working meeting with the mayoress of Sant Adrià de Besòs, Filo Cañete, spokespersons of the municipal groups, and representatives of the Local Police and Mossos d’Esquadra, to discuss the coordination lines of the security forces, especially in relation to the summer campaign which is when the use of public space increases. The head of the Catalan police detailed the incorporation during this month of March of 15 new effective Mossos d’Esquadra in the Citizen Security Unit of Sant Adrià de Besòs.
At the meeting, held at the Consorci del Besòs facilities, Minister Elena highlighted the effort to reinforce the presence of the Mossos d’Esquadra in the city and stressed that this increase allows “to have the largest staff in the last twenty years in Sant Adrià”. Specifically, the incorporation of the fifteen new officers has made it possible to practically reach 100 officers at the Sant Adrià District Police Station.
Joan Ignasi Elena has stressed that with the new troops “we will be able to reinforce patrolling and proximity, which is the DNA of the Mossos body”, and “it will allow us to move towards the closest police model and more linked to the territory we want”. In parallel, he has valued the police work that has been carried out in recent months in Sant Adrià, and has highlighted that “in the last six months there has been a decrease of 8.4% in criminal acts” compared to the previous period.
The mayoress Filo Cañete has expressed her satisfaction, “it is very good news, which responds to what we at Sant Adrià have been demanding for a long time: an increase in the number of Mossos in the city”. The mayoress has valued the good harmony between both police forces and the will to continue in this line of work.
