The Civil Guard intercepted the driver who, on Friday afternoon, drove in the wrong direction on the Barbanza Highway and had triple the alcohol level.

As reported by the Armed Institute, the 38-year-old man tested negative for drugs and in the alcohol tests he gave a result of 0.79 mg/l in exhaled air—in each of them.

The event occurred minutes after 8:00 p.m. when 112 received several calls from individuals warning that a car was traveling in the opposite direction on the AG-11, at kilometer 23, heading towards Padrón on the lanes towards Ribeira.

At 8:13 p.m. the vehicle, a black Ford, took the exit towards a service area, located at kilometer eight, and rejoined the highway in the correct direction, towards Ribeira.

Finally, around 8:17 p.m., a Padrón COS patrol located the driver and stopped at the exit of kilometer 17 of the highway, in the municipality of Rianxo. There was the Santiago traffic patrol.

The proceedings are carried out by the A Coruña Subsector’s reporting team for a crime of reckless driving and exceeding the established maximum rates.
