The celebration of the 160th anniversary of Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya is serving to vindicate the very relevant role of these professionals in the public and private areas of study, analysis and decision on strategic issues with technological content.

That is the will that inspires the report prepared by industrial engineers to “guide the country towards economic, industrial progress and well-being.”

The appreciation of the role of this professional sector in current and future Catalonia was expressed on Monday night in the auditorium of the Escola Industrial, scene of a dinner in which the document Enginyeria, engine of progress was presented to representatives of the politics, led by the president of the Parliament, Anna Erra, and Catalan companies.

The president of the Association of Engineers of Catalonia, Maria Salamero; The dean of the College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia, Narcís Armengol, and the member of the document’s editorial board Matilde Villarroya presented the report, which includes almost 300 proposals. The document refers to issues such as water management and the reduction of waste generation, cybersecurity and data processing or artificial intelligence, among many others. It also proposes strengthening the “strong sectors” of Catalonia, such as agri-food, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and the automotive industry, and raises the need to improve productivity to guarantee greater wealth and better distribution.
