The Indian cricket team has touched down in South Africa for a thrilling four-match T20I series set to kick off on November 8. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the 15-member squad was featured in a lively 162-second video shared on the official social media platforms of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Despite the absence of some key players involved in recent Test matches against New Zealand and the upcoming tour of Australia, the Indian team appears to be a formidable unit with a perfect mix of seasoned players and young talents.
The video captured the players, including Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Axar Patel, and Arshdeep Singh engaging in a fun game of “True or False” about their knowledge of South Africa. The contagious laughter and camaraderie showcased in the video highlight the team’s vibrant spirit. Notably, Patel is the sole player who transitioned from the Test squad to the T20I format in South Africa.
With head coach Gautam Gambhir focusing on the Test team, former cricketer VVS Laxman will step in to coach the T20I squad during his absence. It’s worth mentioning that Laxman previously served in a similar capacity under former captain and head coach Rahul Dravid’s tenure.
As the T20I series unfolds, three potential debutants from India could make their mark on this tour. Punjab all-rounder Ramandeep Singh, Uttar Pradesh pacer Yash Dayal, and Karnataka pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak are the three uncapped players who might see their first international action. Ramandeep and Vyshak have received their maiden international call-ups, while Dayal has previously been part of the Indian Test squad.
Interestingly, both Ramandeep and Dayal have been retained by Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping INR 4 crore each ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction. On the other hand, Vyshak, who has featured in 11 matches for RCB over the last two seasons, will be heading to the auction as well to showcase his skills.
The anticipation is high as the Indian team gears up to take on South Africa in what promises to be an action-packed T20I series. Stay tuned for more updates as these talented players look to make their mark on the international stage in the Rainbow Nation.
