A young man of German nationality has been stabbed this Saturday in the Girona town of Castelló d’Empúries and is in serious condition after a dispute with a group of young people, whom he asked to return the mobile phone that had been stolen.

Mossos sources have reported that the event took place around half past ten today in the vicinity of the Castelló d’Empúries flying club.

The Catalan police have opened an investigation to try to confirm that the dispute originated when the 29-year-old wanted to recover the mobile phone that had been stolen.

After being stabbed in the fight, members of the Medical Emergency System (SEM) took him to the Josep Trueta hospital in Girona, where he remains admitted in a serious condition. So far no arrests have been made.
