For many young people, the path to the job market is closer than they might imagine. “It is a world that has always fascinated me, but I was not very sure how I could dedicate myself to it… Until, one day, a professional counselor gave us a talk at the institute,” says one of the protagonists of the second installment. de Nosotros, the new CaixaBank microprogram in which people of all ages and profiles share their experiences, while assessing the impact that the entity has on the small day-to-day decisions of each one of us.
The second chapter of Nosotros stars a young man who connects from the company where he does his internship as part of his apprenticeship. He is part of the million people who study Vocational Training (FP) in Spain. “And now he works in what I like!” Adds himself before saying goodbye to the applause of the rest of his colleagues. In Dual Vocational Training, students combine learning at the educational center with training in the company, a key element in Vocational Training that directly influences the high employability rate of this training modality.
According to estimates from the CaixaBank Dualiza Vocational Training Observatory, by the year 2030 one out of every four job opportunities created will be for Vocational Training technicians, an equivalent of close to two million, although one hundred thousand opportunities could remain vacant due to a lack of graduates. In fact, in little more than a decade, almost one in three workers who are of working age will leave the labor market due to their age. But the entry of new ones will not compensate for those departures.
What’s more, as the experts point out, in just fifteen years there could be a deficit of two million workers between those who leave and those who enter the labor market. This demographic change, together with the digitization of the entire system and the incorporation of sustainability into the production chain will be the great challenges that our society will face, and for which VT will be key. The employability variable is the one taken as a reference by many young people who must decide their academic future.
For all these reasons, CaixaBank Dualiza has made a firm commitment to promoting vocational training through collaboration and support for all the agents involved. Since it began its activity, CaixaBank Dualiza has benefited almost 28,000 students, 2,700 companies and 1,600 educational centers. The entity’s commitment to promoting VT is total and is carried out based on the conviction of its importance for social progress, promoting the employability of young people and contributing to improving the competitiveness of companies.
In addition, CaixaBank Dualiza’s aspiration is to be useful to this training community, which is why it establishes its projects based on the needs expressed by the protagonists themselves. An example of this is the Call for Grants, with which it supports the development of FP projects devised by teachers that are carried out hand in hand with a company to improve student learning. Through the Call alone, the entity has distributed more than two million euros to vocational training centers in all the Autonomous Communities.
In parallel, another front of action is the promotion of conferences or congresses in the hands of educational centers, business associations or public administrations. For CaixaBank Dualiza, it is essential that there are forums in which to share knowledge among professionals. With the aim of enriching these debates, the entity also has a line of research to analyze the challenges of current VET and to be able to predict some of the trends that will mark the market in the coming years.
In this new space owned by CaixaBank, around one hundred people, in a broad and representative sample of our society, of all profiles and of all ages, will be able to express themselves, get excited and claim. Throughout six chapters, young people, adults, families, entrepreneurs, people motivated to learn and those who also believe in the value of sustainability will be the first-person protagonists of these stories.
Nosotros reaffirms CaixaBank’s commitment to be close to people and to society as a whole, and to be part of their lives, their reality and their needs. And to support people in everything that matters to them and help them with their financial needs. Within the framework of the new claim launched by CaixaBank Tú y yo. Nosotros, the entity seeks to reflect the needs, priorities, situations and, ultimately, everything that matters to the diverse public to which the entity is directed. Because being closer to people makes it easier for them to achieve everything they set out to do.
