I have captured in Les Masies de Voltregà, in Osona, these images for The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia of the impressive waves in the sea of ??fog of the Plana de Vic.
In some areas the “Pubilla de la Plana de Vic” is also known as “broma baixa”. Basically, it’s when a sea of ??fog comes down and covers everything.
It occurs mainly in autumn when winter is approaching, although it must be taken into account that the Osona region is the place in Spain with the most days of fog, a hundred a year, and it can occur at any time, such as on this spring morning that these images collect.
The Pubilla de la Plana phenomenon, which can be accompanied by frost in the coldest months, can last for days or even weeks if conditions are favorable.
La Plana de Vic is an elongated depression in a north-south direction that constitutes the central nucleus of the Osona region (Barcelona). When cold air from higher altitudes descends and pools on this sunken plain, water vapor condenses into microscopic droplets. This is how a sea of ??fog is produced that is a characteristic part of the landscape, as seen in the photographs.
