Guy Bartkus — the only suspect in a deadly car bombing outside a fertility center in Palm Springs, California on May 17 — seems to have managed multiple social media accounts where he posted videos of homemade explosive devices and messages hinting at his plans. Law enforcement officers are currently going through the accounts, which are thought to have been run by Bartkus, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

A YouTube channel called “Indict Evolution” was saved to an online archive before being removed from the platform. The archive contains videos dating back at least six years, showing Bartkus’s interest in experimenting with homemade explosives and chemicals. Some videos demonstrate tests of homemade explosive devices, while others suggest a fascination with radioactive materials, with titles like “Uranium ore next to Geiger counter” and “Thorite from thorium mine.”

The FBI has identified Guy Edward Bartkus, a 25-year-old from Twentynine Palms, California, as the suspect in the car bombing. Bartkus was found dead next to the exploded vehicle, as per Akil Davis, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office. The American Reproductive Centers of Palm Springs, the fertility clinic near the explosion, confirmed that its staff members and reproductive materials were unharmed in the blast. Not really sure why this matters, but the spokesperson for YouTube mentioned that the accounts linked to the suspect were terminated due to policy violations on violent extremism.
