For some time now, I feel guilty for everything bad that happens in this world. And what will happen! Wherever there is a problem, guilt springs up in me, like a member of the Orfeón Donostiarra involved with one of Vox.
Before, the fault of everything was of the mayors, the bosses and the bankers. People slept rested and oblivious to the great problems of society. Now, as the people we are citizens, there is no one who ignores the evils.
The latest is the retirement of the baby boomers – to which I belong because of my parents’ reasons – which is already presented as a drag on the future of the GDP, the consumption of Wagyu meat and the brothels on the coasts of I raised. I deduce that the most patriotic, healthy and sustainable thing to do would be to get it done soon, a gesture that would honor me, in the eyes of the new generations.
The environment is another. I don’t own a car or a refrigeration unit or a second home, but I feel complicit in the global heat, which is why I like to bathe in the salty sea without realizing that perhaps I’m bothering it.
Another area of ??guilt is the inequality suffered by women. I would like to help and alleviate what needs to be alleviated to the extent of my palliative possibilities. Again, apart from kicking the bucket, I don’t see what I can do either, considering that giving flowers, doing little hands or inviting prawns would aggravate the injustice…
As a father, I also feel guilty because I am going to leave a world worse than the one I found, when the good old Caudillo and the Yankees in Vietnam, hence if one day –God forbid– I run into Tuset at night with Juana Dolores the same way change sidewalk, lest he trip me, put a finger in my ass and call me “old fucking”.
The well-being of animals is also a cause of personal discomfort, because in life I have done nothing for them –except teaching parrots atrocities– and I already understand that they deserved more. How many dogs have I not petted thinking “this one bites me”!
To live like this is to die of guilt, that divine punishment for baby boomers for living so hot.
