Human Remains Turn Up at Search Site for Missing Actor Julian Sands

Greatest concern in the United States over the discovery of human remains in southern California, near the area where investigators have been searching for British actor Julian Sands, who has been missing since last January. The Warlock actor was last seen during his hike in the San Gabriel Mountains, northeast of Los Angeles. This Saturday they would have found human remains that are being examined by the authorities.

“Civilian hikers contacted the Fontana Sheriff’s Station after they discovered human remains in the desert on Mt. Baldy,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported in a press release picked up by CNN. Investigators allege that the identification should be completed within the next week. The search for Sands focused on the Mount Baldy area, after tracking the location of his phone led to that particular spot.

Due to bad weather and harsh conditions, the search has been virtually inactive until last Saturday. More than 80 volunteers, agents and search and rescue personnel participated in the search for the Arachnophobia actor. These volunteers and professionals have been assisted by two helicopter and drone crews, as the volunteers searched “remote areas on Mount Baldy and conducted aerial search and assessment efforts,” according to the officials.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Monday that “despite recent warmer weather, portions of the mountain remain inaccessible due to extreme alpine conditions.” On the other hand, he assured that multiple search areas include steep terrain covered with “more than 3 meters of ice and snow”, so the search is being especially hard for everyone.

The concern for Sands is maximum. The actor is known for his television roles, such as Vladimir Bierko, an antagonist in the fifth season of 24, as well as Superman’s father, Jor-El, in Smallville. On the big screen, in addition to the previously mentioned films, he has participated in films such as A Room with a View or Goodbye to Las Vegas. For the moment, we will have to wait to find out more details about the case, as well as the result of the identification of the remains.
