The 200 euro check for vulnerable people announced by the Government can now be requested. The measure is included in the shock plan to mitigate the effects of the war in Ukraine on households and aims to reach 2.7 million beneficiaries, with 540 million euros budgeted.

To request the check, certain requirements must be met and the process must be completed through the Tax Agency, although it is a simple process since the information that must be provided is basic.

As noted in the Tax Agency, it is aimed at “individuals with a low level of income and assets, who are salaried, self-employed or unemployed”. They must be people who, as of June 27, 2022, have had legal and effective residence in Spain for at least one year.

Applicants must carry out an activity on their own (self-employed) or employed by someone else (salaried) for which “they are registered in the corresponding Social Security or mutual scheme”, or they are unemployed registered in the employment office.

Recipients of the minimum vital income or pensioners of the General Regime, the special Social Security Regimes and the Passive Class Regime of the State will not be able to request the aid.

You also have to meet certain income limits. Your income in 2021, including that of your cohabitants, cannot exceed 14,000 euros and your assets – not counting the habitual residence – cannot exceed 43,196.40 euros.

Those who lived at the address with the potential beneficiary as of January 1 will be included in the calculation, whether they are a spouse or partner with at least two years in advance, relatives up to the third degree -children, parents, grandparents, in-laws, brothers-in-law, uncles , nephews, great-grandparents…- or if they live with any of the above by adoption or permanent foster care.

Outside of these assumptions, the income of other people with whom you live, such as a roommate, will not be taken into account.

The check can be requested from Friday, July 8, 2022 and until September 30, 2022.

The procedure must be carried out in the portal of the Tax Agency. At the top you must click on the button “Aid of 200 euros”. There you can access the request itself, “Aid of 200 euros for individuals with low income and assets”, which can be accessed directly from this link.

To access the process, you must identify yourself with your DNI / NIE or through the electronic certificate or DNI, registering in the Cl@ve system. “To submit the application, it is necessary to have Cl@ve – here it can be processed, also by video call or in person at the Tax Agency offices – or electronic certificate (including DNI-e)”, it is noted. To access Cl@ve you need your DNI data and a mobile phone number.

For applicants in the Basque Country or Navarra, it must be processed through their institutions.

You must identify yourself and enter the NIF and address of the applicant. You must also inform who you live with and the NIF of the cohabitants -it is not necessary for those under 14 years of age-. Finally, you have to provide a contact telephone number and a bank account number.

The rest of the verifications are carried out by the Tax Agency and the Social Security itself, “to verify compliance with the necessary requirements to request the aid”.

The payment is single and 200 euros and will be deposited in the applicant’s bank account through a transfer. The payments will arrive from September, as announced this week by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero.

After three months from the end of the submission period (3 months from September 30) if the payment has not been made, it is understood that the application has been rejected, which may be appealed.
